ABOUT THE ARTWORK

What if androids had purple eyes started as an idea of androids performing everyday task, going about their lives immersed in our societies. The only way to distinguish them would be a standout feature like purple eyes. Would androids want to be human in the world we currently live or continue to be androids. This would only be possible if they had emotions. I believe that with the continued advancement of AI, androids are a real possibility.

My name is Jaime Knox and my journey is a testament to the diverse career paths one can take. Wilmington NC is home, and with its unique blend of charm and economic growth, it provided me with a unique environment to raise a family. After obtaining a solid educational foundation by earning a degree in Communication from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, I embarked on a technical career at Corning, Inc., a company known for its innovative contributions to fiber optics. I transitioned from the technical field at Corning, Inc. after a layoff to serving the community in law enforcement with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. This shift required adaptability and a commitment to public service. I retired in July 2023 which marked the culmination of a career that spanned various roles and responsibilities, reflecting a rich tapestry of experiences. The evolution of art mediums and techniques is a testament to the adaptability and creativity of artists. The realm of fantasy art has indeed been profoundly shaped by the imaginative works of Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta. Their ability to blend the surreal with the visceral has set a high standard for the genre, inspiring countless artists and enthusiasts. Their skill and vision has influenced not just the aesthetics of fantasy art but also its narrative depth. The hyper-realistic works of Paul Stowe, Jono Dry, Arinze Stanley, Diego Fazio, Egbengwu, Diego Koi, Chiamonwu Joy, and Paul Cadden further expand the boundaries of art, challenging our perceptions and inviting us to look closer. I prefer using graphite for precise control for methods like scumbling., and carbon pencils and charcoal because they offer a richness and true black texture. The balance between hyper-realism and expressive interpretation can give artwork a unique character, inviting viewers to engage with the piece on a deeper level. The integration of AI into the artistic process represents a modern tool that can enhance the creative workflow, providing a starting point that can be refined and transformed into a personal vision. This synergy of traditional techniques and cutting-edge technology is shaping the future of art, where the authenticity of the idea remains the core of artistic expression. As a self-taught artist, I believe the power of artistic expression is enhanced by passion and dedication to honing one's skill. The exploration of shading and light is a fundamental aspect that brings depth and realism to art.
