“My art always places emphasis on nature, imagination and our emotional response to a scene that may recall memories of a place in time, moments that are significant and meaningful.” "Mon art met toujours l'accent sur la nature, l'imagination et notre réponse émotionnelle à une scène qui peut rappeler des souvenirs d'un lieu dans le temps, des moments significatifs et significatifs." Born in Sydney, Amanda grew up in Darwin. Her happiest times were spent journeying to indigenous communities in the Australian outback with parents who were eminent filmmakers and humanists. Those experiences developed a strong visual memory and a love of natural environments. Working in Sydney, in the film industry, she was enriched by connections with artists and visits to art galleries of the world, becoming fascinated by artists of the Romantic era - J.M.W. Turner and Ivan Aivazovsky; Their art resonated - an interpretation of the world vast and timeless. Acutely observant of her environment, Amanda is drawn to light and water and feels strongly influenced by stories of ancient myths and poems. Sometimes she draws upon the historical aspects of ancestral mariners, and their brave endeavours crossing the Tasman Sea. In her Victorian coastal studio, the unique and often dramatic climate is mesmerising, as she sketches ephemeral moments of colour, movement, and light. Amanda enjoys creating luminosity and depth in her oil paintings using rational, time honoured techniques. Amanda’s art is held in private collections in USA, Europe, Middle East, New Zealand, Australia. member - Victorian Artists Society, Melbourne, Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors.
