ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The first of a series of works created with three canvases, ostensibly about books. This work highlights contrasts in depth, working with 2 and 3 dimensions. The stack of books looks almost real, though such a stack would probably fall down. The use of found objects, such as the notepad and the key from an old diary reinforce the realism of the painted objects. The use of color to keep the books in balance is also a bit precarious, since the picture's balance was based as much on color as it was on shape. I do not know anyone who has made a similar works. These three-dimensional pictures were my response to the challenge of making a work of art that could not be exactly copied. Their theme was untold stories. Another challenge that I took up in these works was to make similar works of art whose structural balance depended on juxtaposition of many colored spaces. In other words, I wanted to take an abstract approach to a realistic subjects.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Art is a passion, which I steadfastly develop in my own way, getting inspiration from fragments of poetry, photographs or stories, rather than from drawings or paintings of other artists. Dr. Dalia Hakker-Orion, curator of my solo exhibition in Tel Aviv wrote: “She doesn’t paint according to instructions or styles, but evolves at her own pace, creating original paintings manifesting passages connecting different realities.” My story stretches from my childhood home in Southern California to the Sea of Galilee in Israel. My dual citizenship has strongly influenced my perspectives. From multiple traditions, art emerges as the visual expression of movement and multi-layered ideas. I am currently working with encaustic paint that I make in my studio. My work incorporates a variety of materials: oil, acrylic, pastel, pencil sketches, and found objects.
