ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This drawing was created on the sketchbook app on my phone. Sometimes, I enjoy sketching and drawing in this way as it is very spontaneous and allows me room to express how I feel in a moment. Being able to sketch on my phone is convenient and to hand. These drawings are emotional expressive drawings inspired by early Weimar culture of world war 11. I like to create these expressive portraits of women. I think the grotesque, the upheavals and rebellion of the Weimar past challenges authoritarianism and traditions and one can return to this style in order to convey a mood or atmosphere. I particularly enjoy creating women's faces. They are in many ways a reflection of myself. I have been drawing these for many years but never considered them very important in my art. But I feel the time has come to start sharing them.
