A Native Alaskan, mixed media artist, and wheelchair user; Ember's work can be found in private collections in the US and abroad. Focusing primarily in bas-relief carving and ilumination her technique was first taught her by her grandmother. An oft forgotten art form, hers is found in the halls of country homes as well as palacial estates where they are treasured for their exquisite intricacies, soft warm grains, and flowing textures. Evoking a sense of antiquity, as well as modernity her work speaks of the hidden wise-woman workings, the healer, the mystical, the arcane body. She follows humbly on the path of a long line of magical realism masters. In her own words: "If I am to create art, let it be for beauty, that it may be cherished and stand the test of time. If I am to create art, let my hand do my heart justice. Let it sing inside the wood a melody that fills the soul."
