For Pedro Blas, his art is a meditation on how we consume visual information. Inspired by kinetic artists such as Carlos Cruz-Diez, Victor Vasarely, or Jesús Rafael Soto, who used the moiré effect, where colored lines contrast and give the impression of movement. His contemporary work creates the sensation of vibration as the viewer's position in relation to the work changes. To achieve the desired effect, Blas uses various software and analog/digital photography that he uses as his brush to be able to carry out his projects that can then be translated into frescoes, murals, paintings, and sculptures. Giving tactile merit to what is happening in the mind and the digital world.

Switzerland
I am a Spanish Venezuelan artist, born in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently working in Zurich, Switzerland. As a graphic designer, painter and photographer, I use computer technology for its high artistic expression and as a tool for my work. My practice is deeply influenced by the Venezuelan Op Art movement of the 20th century. I have studied with Carlos Cruz-Diez and Jesús Rafael Soto—integral pioneers of Op Art—in Caracas, and my work presents a contemporary mirror reflection of the efforts of these earlier pioneers.
