ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This self portrait, "Coming Together", was created during lockdown. I was living in the Uk (still am), while all my family was in France, Morrocco or the USA. It felt like pieces of me were missing, more than usual. Instead of seeing the cup half empty, I decided to create a unique piece. For some, it may look like her face exploded, and the pieces are everywhere. For me, it is the other way around. The pieces are coming back together, as I had the hope to see my family very soon. Even if at that moment, my body felt like a dark galaxy, myself being a very small star lost in the cosmos. As it was lockdown, for a little while I was not able to get art supplies, so I created this piece with what I could find. It made of different pieces of cardboard, that I then cut and pasted on an acrylic paper. Each piece of neon colour represents a loved one, and I hope they will being as much joy to your home as they do to mine. I am not selling the original piece at the moment, I guess I need them a little longer.
