About The Artwork

"Cut from the Darkness" 2000 category HYBRIDS mixed media on wood, box cm.160x53. "Cut from the Darkness" is part of a category of works that the artist refers to as HYBRIDS because they are mixed media creations composed of a digital part that is similar for all 20 specimens and a fresco part that differentiates one from the other, making them unique. The specimens are nonetheless numbered in a limited edition of 1/20. The Work alludes to three phases of every individual's life. An evolution that often produces changes traversed by difficult moments. The BLACK contains a natural element that in the plot assimilates to our skin seen under a microscope. Nature, with its contradictions but also with its determination, often comes to our aid, giving us strength and beauty.

Andrea Neri is a multimedia artist employing many creative techniques. In the middle of the 1980s Neri originated a complex individual technique based on the interaction between different non-heterogeneous materials with the natural elements of water, air and fire. Artworks, which by the artist himself have been named “frescoed and encaustic paintings”, have often been projected towards installation, by means of constant, forward-looking experimentation and a combination of fragments, objects and images of different provenience. At the end of the 1990s, with the use of new digital techniques, the artist recaptures his love for photography by creating manipulated images. The artworks produced are concepts and ideas formulated through the same processes of communication; consequently, they take on a cutting edge conceptual aspect.
