ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece deals with the illusion of identity. By representing my photography as a playing card, I hoped to show how what is often seen is the aesthetic image on the back. By flipping the card, we realize that the identity of the card keeps changing. It in a way shows the importance given to aesthetic appeal and the change one may take based on the situation. The photographs were taken by me and were later edited using photoshop.

Aswathy has worked extensively with Visual Arts in the IB Diploma program. Throughout the past three years, she has presented her artworks in five exhibitions, three of which were organized by Maisha studio. She has completed an animation and sculpture course in the University of Pennsylvania in 2016. She has also received training in western classical music and mixed martial arts. She has an interest in storytelling, poetry and literature and is set on pursuing her BFA in animation at the Rhode Island School of Design.
