Fibonacci Squares: 11111100100 Series "Where Art Meets Science" This series includes 'negative spaces' - the Fibonacci curves were composited and then used to create square and rectangular spaces, combined with the original elements - the overall effect is one of tranquility and calm. The simplicity is enhanced further by using only flat monochromatic colours. A vector curve graphic has been used as an overlay. The viewers eyes follow the structure of the piece giving movement and interest whilst retaining the calm. Although abstract, the series gives the impression of hidden images and subjects as the Fibonacci curves work their magic. In geometry, a golden spiral is a logarithmic spiral whose growth factor is φ, the golden ratio. That is, a golden spiral gets wider (or further from its origin) by a factor of φ for every quarter turn it makes.* These artworks were part of a collection of elements for a new series of Alan Turing portraits. As usual, I went off on a tangent. • Type: Fine-Art Print • Medium: Giclée • Materials: 100% Cotton Paper • Paper: Hahnemühle German Etching • Edition Size: Gallery Edition • Paper Size: 30" x 30" • Image Size: approx. 24" x 24" • This artwork is sold ready to frame • Includes: Certificate of Authenticity • Signed by the Artist in pencil on the front** *Approximate logarithmic spirals can occur in nature (for example, the arms of spiral galaxies or phyllotaxis of leaves); golden spirals are one special case of these logarithmic spirals. A recent analysis of spirals observed in mouse corneal epithelial cells indicated that some can be characterised by the golden spiral, and some by other spirals It is sometimes stated that spiral galaxies and nautilus shells get wider in the pattern of a golden spiral, and hence are related to both φ and the Fibonacci series. **Hand-signed in pencil as StewartHR aka Czar Catstick & The Emperor's New Clothes Collective.
