ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I grew up in Japan and lived in a city called Funabashi from ages 1-10 years old. I have so many memories from this age. Every weekend my older sister and I would take an Art class together. The classes were held at her home and although I don't remember my teacher's face I will never forget the house. It was very western, which at the time was super uncommon in Japan. Her walls were colored her favorite, salmon pink, and on her table, always sat a vase filled with beautiful flowers. In this painting, I tried to show the image in my head that represents this memory.
