ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The amazing and iconic Australian Grass Tree. I'm trying to grow one that started life around 15 years ago in a nursery near the Grampians in Victoria but I will never see it reach the height of these magnificent plants growing in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne. Inspired by the great Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (but not able to imitate), I selected one of my photos and then illustrated a version which reflects the scene I see. Limited Edition print, 1 of 20. Signed and numbered with Certificate of Authenticity. Image printed on 320g 100% cotton rag, French cold press archival paper with a pleasant natural shade. 50 mm of white margin around illustration.

I was seven or eight when I went on a school trip to a park, and it was there that I first remember taking a photo. My dad had lent me a box brownie for the excursion and that day left quite an impression on my imagination. I realised I could freeze a moment in time and end up with a permanent record of whatever grabbed my attention. That feeling has never left me and I have taken photos of anything that interested me ever since. I have also been very fortunate to be selected as one of the winners of a Corbis ‘Creatives behind the Lens’ competition. I love capturing a fleeting image, a moment passed and the images I create are based on photos I have taken. Afterwards, these photos inspire me to create an ‘alternative’ closer to the feeling I had when I took the original photo. Limited Edition Giclee Prints are produced on 320gsm, 100% cotton rag. Finish is French cold press with a natural colour shade. Inks are rated archival.
