ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I saw a vague and wavering image in my mind before painting this picture. I tried to express this strange vision. The result is the image of a woman doll. This doll seems silly and ridiculous. But she asks for help. And who are we to refuse? Every doll wants to become human. And don't forget that many men in the world would like to turn their women into dolls. It's easier to live with a doll. But is this a good fate for a woman?

Michael Kaza: on the edge of reality Michael Kaza’s creative work is absolutely spontaneous. The artist’s hand moves on its own just obeying the impulses of the unconscious: without any initial idea and preliminary sketches. As a result, the surrealistic images are born triggering the response of the unconscious of all who come in contact with Michael’s artwork. This response creates the possibility of a special intimate contact of a person with himself or herself. While contemplating his artworks, people get acquainted with “their own shadow”, in other words, with the dark side of their personality. However, Michael has no intention to shock anyone. He just observes the game of human nature, its absurdity and logic, beauty and ugliness. Michael looks at it and sees the picture. He makes the invisible part of a person visible. This is a live broadcast from the depths of the unconscious, where there are no taboos, morality, and restrictions. Michael Kaza in the world of art Michael’s worldview was greatly influenced, primarily, by the works of Freud and Jung as the basis for understanding the human nature and imaginative nature of the unconscious. It is quite natural that the artist was fond of Bosch, Brueghel, Dali, who gave an impulse to his imagination. His creative method has taken its final shape ever since he became familiar with Andre Breton's theory of automatic drawing. The core and uniqueness of his creativity constitute the fact that Michael creates works in the technique of automatic spontaneous drawing. The artist puts his hand on a sheet of paper and lets it move freely. He does not come up with images. They flow out of the unconscious mind, bypassing the censorship of consciousness. This determines the power of their impact. By now, Kaza has created over 400 works. The artist prefers to work with a gel pen, pen, ink, and markers on paper. In addition, the artist is actively experimenting with Digital Art. He defines his style as graphic surrealism. Michael Kaza about his artwork “Simple lines and colors... Why do they excite some people so much? Raising their admiration. Attracting. Involving. They make people come back to them. To collect and possess them. I have no doubt that in my drawings you can find symbols of sex, aggression, nature, something ugly and beautiful. Some will see the humor in them, and some will see grotesque.
