This artwork belongs to the series of “I fiori invisibili” (The invisible flowers), an imaginary metaphor for a photographic story centered around the theme of nature. The protagonists of this intricate tale are blooms that are examined ‘close up and personal’ in all their radiant freshness by the lens of the camera. But the flowers are really a vehicle used to focus our attention on a light coming from beyond, an intense nature, home to our feelings, a frontier of beauty. Carolina lowers her camera right down into the grass or points it up into the sky, seeking to frame the vibrant dynamism of nature, almost palpable, living stems, leaves, buds and petals. The two artists then transfer the images into a digital process that emphasizes the proximity of the beholder and the beheld. Finally, Valeria adds some light china ink brushstrokes: lace patterns, a story told with simple symbols, repeated and multiplied. Lines, spirals, bubbles and subtle parallel blooms invade the area like an active force, both impetuous and gentle. Dreamlike. Thus flourishes an ensemble of dialogues with an intense nature which is akin both to the poetic sense of Virgil, an object of contemplation and regeneration, and as something to be listened to.
