ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"In-Shreds" is a poignant reflection of a universal story: the search for identity, the yearning to belong, the innate need for dignity and love that resonate with everyone, as we all navigate our paths in our own unique ways. "In-Shreds"...My work process involves deconstructing my portrait paintings to create this new artwork. The mixed media techniques used in these artworks include collage, watercolour, coloured pencils, and ink. They are a fusion of patterns, colours, shapes, and typography and are available in various sizes. I view this body of work as a harmonious blend of art and graphic design. Amad is an artist, graphic designer and illustrator, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he earned his Master's degree in Graphic Design from the University of Edinburgh. His strong connection with Scotland began eight years ago. During this time, he has undertaken art projects exploring themes such as cultural identity, immigration, and mental health amongst others. He is continually exploring different aspects of these issues through my art, which often involves senses of connection and diversity. This journey has led him to question generational traditions in both Lebanon and Scotland, as well as approach cultural taboos with curiosity and sensitivity. His artwork draws substantial influence from his graphic design background, evident in the presence of patterns, geometric forms, typography, and a vibrant palette of attractive colours. His creative process encompasses a range of techniques, including hand-drawn illustration, mixed media, collage, typography, and traditional art methods.
