I am Snezhana Botenovskaya. Originally from Belarus, I have been living in Barcelona since 2020, the city where people began calling me Nia as a closer and simpler way to pronounce my name. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by human faces. Every time I begin a portrait, I immerse myself in the search for those unique details that make each face unrepeatable. In 2013, I discovered the collage technique, which became my main artistic language. Over time, I began incorporating recycled materials such as dried flowers and pieces of used clothing, exploring the richness of mixed media and the value of giving objects a new life. The main subject of my work is women and their journey within society, exploring their different roles in both public and personal life. Artistic Motivation My work is driven by two main forces: The alchemy of recycled art. Transforming “waste” into “treasure.” I find inspiration in giving new life to what seems useless: dried flowers, used magazines, torn cardboard. Each recycled fragment represents a possibility of visual and symbolic resurrection. The magic of chaos becoming order. Collage is a process of unexpected transformation: from seemingly random glued pieces to a balanced and vibrant image. The final result always surprises me—each fragment finds its perfect place, as if it had been waiting for it.
