"To be whole. To be complete. Wildness reminds us what it means to be human, what we are connected to rather than what we are separate from." – Terry Tempest Williams Lake, Napa and Sonoma counties all claim Mount St. Helena's rocky countenance. According to geologists, the fir-trimmed mountain resides in the Clear Lake volcanic field, which has been active for the past two million years. Although Mount St. Helena is not a volcano, a powerful volcanic eruption took place in its vicinity, in an approximately one-mile radius of the mountain. This all transpired more than 3.4 million years ago, and the results of the volcanics contributed to the formation of Napa Valley's Petrified Forest. The Wappo Indians called the mountain, "Kanamoto," or "human mountain," as it resembled a woman reclining. Then, the mountain was deeply respected by the Wappo. All works from the 'Dissecting Gravity' series are created on high quality paper mounted wood panels artfully painted & splashed with pure watercolors. The rich texture of the trees and other images are created with collaged pieces of litter, recycled junk mail and old magazines, as a gentle reminder that if we do not stop trashing the planet, trees will not grow from our garbage in the future. The overall result is an aesthetically alluring composition with a hidden message about protecting our forests. Ready to hang. No framing required. This is a Diptych. Each panel is 40 X 30. It will be professionally packed and shipped in a box. The entire piece is finished with two coats of archival satin varnish, creating a contemporary yet natural look. The edges are natural wood. Linda Klein, a nature-loving artist hailing from the Bay Area, California, embarks on a soulful journey that harmonizes realism and abstract expression. Unveiling her artistic flair in preschool, Linda's earliest creative adventures prompted her parents to enroll her in local art classes—a bid to save their home from toddler graffiti and nurture her burgeoning talent. Nestled in the wild beauty of West Marin since 2009, Linda draws inspiration from her surroundings. Her artistic evolution mirrors the diverse landscapes she calls home—ranging from detailed graphite drawings to vibrant, ecologically themed pieces infused with recycled collage elements. Linda's unique process involves mounting watercolor paper onto handcrafted wood panels which are often created by her equally talented woodworking husband. This technique imposes a modern eco-conscious approach that bypasses traditional framing. Linda's art is a personal reflection, resonating with the rhythms of nature. With an unwavering commitment to continuing her creative education and a dance between documentation and new realities, Linda Klein's journey is a deeply personal ode to the beauty of our planet.
