ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Whether as an Rorschach test, drawing the line between the visual and functional parallel between flowers and human genitalia, or by transforming the vulva into a feast of blossoming colours. Flowers become more enriched with life as they approach their death. Their most beautiful moment is just before they perish. And in that sense flowers smell of death but also of sex. This play on double meanings that characterises this collection and series.

Born in the archipelago of Cabo Verde, Nuno Caroço has a Master in Fine Arts, with focus on Painting, Photography and image manipulation. From a 17 year hiatus from any art exhibitions and a cancer diagnosis in 2020, 2022 was the year i reconnected to my art, ironically after seeing a magnified photo of my own melanoma, looking very much as a blooming flower, i found myself again into the discovery of digital art experiments, together with a curious passion in the representation of body mutation, organism symbiosis and sexuality, employing a pictorial language based on color, line, shape and form, achieving to create touching pieces.
