ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I am inspired by "The Wizard of Oz" and the hero's journey as described by Joseph Campbell. In this case, it is a heroine, Dorothy, who finds obstacles in her path to return home to Kansas. I hope the viewer will relate to Dorothy's struggle and her desire to go "Over the Rainbow" where all troubles will evaporate into a beautiful future. I did this first of a series based on "The Wizard of Oz" using an abstract mixed media with tissue paper, metal pieces, and acrylic paint because the style relates to the magical abstract nature of the story it represents.
