Visual artist committed to well-being and transmission Based in Paris, Houdayer creates unique artworks for the decoration of corporate, healthcare, and hospitality spaces. Houdayer collaborates in France and internationally with agencies, artists, designers, publishers, and galleries. Some of his works are archived at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) and are published in the press and by various institutions through the agency Voz’Image. Bruno Houdayer defines himself as a visual creator. Photography is his medium, but he approaches and practices it in a fine-art (plastic) way, aiming to “reveal a suspended form of photography, between figuration and abstraction… He uses it as a raw material, in a continuous process of observation and research into light, texture, and the composition of his images.” By blurring the boundaries of the real image—enhancing colors, strengthening graphic lines, and introducing softness and blur—he seeks to share his vision with the viewer and “establish a strong yet soothing vital resonance between images and spectators.” Each photograph becomes an opportunity to question the image itself, its essence, function, and message. He conceives his art as a three-way exchange: a sharing between the artist, the image, and the viewer. He positions himself as a transmitter of emotion—of what he experiences during the moment of capture and infuses into his work. A deep desire for continuity between the serenity and energy he experiences as an artist and that which reaches the viewer. An invitation to meditate and find renewal. His inquiry into visual emotion dates back to childhood. At the age of six, he accidentally discovered the principle of the pinhole camera, the camera obscura without aperture or lens. Hidden in a cupboard, he was fascinated by the projection on the wall of an often blurry, colorful, graphic, dancing, and inverted image projected through a keyhole. He seeks to evoke and share this emotion with as many people as possible, exploring what is most soothing in an image—a subtle blend of light, texture, and composition. From 2009 to 2012, he lived in Barcelona, where he continued his research in a sunny and colorful environment. He began the SOFT series (work on optical blur), CONCRETE WAVE, SEA SKY, and IN THE WHITE.
