A morning sun casts an intriguing light on a pair of persimmons. The shadow seem both connected to and detached from the fruit, resulting in images that are simultaneously realistic and abstract.

Igor Gasowski is an artist living and working in the East Bay, California. He received his Master of Fine Arts from the Poznań Art Academy in Poland. His career evolved along parallel paths, working both as a designer while also maintaining an active studio practice. In 2008, he co-founded Boldium, a digital design studio, where he took delight in “chasing pixels”—shaping complex systems into visual harmony. The past three years marked a decisive shift: driven by a commitment to experimentation, Igor transitioned to focusing on his art practice full time. While his background in design is evident in his work, he intentionally embraces the unpredictability and imperfection of analog processes. His work explores the in-between spaces, blending art with design, the figurative with the abstract, and the techniques of painting, collage, mono-printing, silkscreen printing, photography and more. Igor’s background in design is visible in his pursuits. His work spans from figurative to abstract, lingering in the in-between space. The boundaries are of special interest. Igor incorporates painting, collage, mono-printing, silkscreen printing, photography and other techniques in his work.
