About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by the plum tree in my garden, which was full of blossom this spring. It just goes to show you don't have to look far for inspiration. I stuck tissue paper to board with gesso to create some lovely texture onto which I painted a watercolour ground. I used watercolour and water soluble acrylic in a free flowing style, I have also used splatter and drips to add liveliness to the image and to evoke the feeling of early spring sunshine.

Hello all and welcome to my gallery page. I am an artist living in Devon in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Everyday I walk with my dog and am inspired by my natural surroundings of woodland, rivers, sea, all manner of wild plants, but also decay, found objects and secret places. Besides this I also like to paint still life, botanicals and some figurative work. I like to work mostly in oils as I love the way the medium develops over time, However I also use watercolour and acrylic to portray my passions. I have also been working on a series of abstracts and am very much enjoying starting with the process rather than the outcome. I am finding this very freeing and helpful to me creatively. I love to play with vibrant colours and effects like dripping, flooding, splatter etc. Thank you for looking at my work.
