ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Design featuring my acrylic figure painting of the Showgirl, with a digital pattern background. Inspired by vintage pop art and French impressionism, and reminds me of show during a trip to Paris a while ago. With the subtle image of my original version of the female dancer in pencil and acrylic paint, this version includes the digitally created patterned background, with straight edges, and shadows, and I think adds an exciting dimension to the painting. The combination of pencil lines, acrylic paint, and digital background is an interpretation of the performance I saw in Paris, with a blend of beautiful dancers, and the sounds and lighting on the stage.

Influences include French impressionism, particularly Edgar Degas, as well as contemporary music, fashion, and dance, with the influence of pop artists such as Peter Blake, and photographers including Helmut Newton providing some inspiration. Whilst my photographs cover a range of subjects , with a great interest in vintage objects and style, my paintings and drawings are typically based on the human body, dancers, musicians, and theatre, as well as sports. My work typically incorporates many of the characteristics of impressionist art, including use of light, movement, composition, and communication through body language.
