Peggy Corallo Dembicer is a contemporary fiber and mixed media artist noted for intricate beaded tapestries, modern and colorful 2D and 3D paperweaving, as well as the creative application of recycled materials in framed and sculptural artworks. She employs polymers, oil and acrylic paints, novelty yarns and miscellaneous objects to create her unique and engaging pieces. Many of Dembicer’s designs draw inspiration from popular culture, geometric patterns or by emulating, through reinvention, the works of artists she admires. Her focus on up-cycling and repurposing discarded and found objects is evident in her mixed media works. Fiber and beads are the consistent and cohesive element in much of her studio practice. Her expertise in weaving, stitching, embroidery, mosaics, collage, wrapping, knotting, painting and crocheting contribute to a diverse portfolio with broad reaching appeal. Dembicer holds workshops at art organizations and exhibits her work in galleries throughout the Northeast United States. She currently lives and works in Weston, Connecticut.
