About my artistic practice: I was being taught, by one of my professors in my film institute, that "art is the mirror of the society." Ever since then, I have always believed that society, in which we live, directly or indirectly has a strong influence on what we think and do. Because society is from us. We constitute society and are all interconnected in a way. And being as an artist, I always keep striving to be able to say, through my works of art, what I think has been ignored and is important for the people to be known and discussed. I genuinely believe, artists have the ability to change what people think. The foundation of a better world is laid on the backs and thoughts of creative and innovative people. About my artwork: The description of an artwork is an artwork itself. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” ― Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from the Birmingham Jail There are two Latin proverbs: 1. "Lex est norma recti(which means, law is a rule of right.). 2. Salus populi suprema lex esto(which means, the welfare of the people shall be the supreme law.). It is important to notice that the people, here, means, people of all races, religions, and genders. It has never been suggested that the welfare is/should be limited to (a) particular group/groups of people. I used this idea in my artwork "Shades of Grey"(I personally feel that there's no black and no white, just shades of grey.) as a manifestation of "Constitutional Force" on the one side and the Force of the ideology of "White Supremacy" on the other side of the Newton's Cradle. The Newton's Cradle illustrates the three main physics principles at work: conservation of energy, conservation of momentum and friction. Needless to say, there has been a momentum going on. Force creates momentum. For force to work, you need mass and external acceleration(F=ma). Mind you, the F(force) and a(acceleration) are Vector quantities here. While m(mass) is not a Vector quantity. Mass, here, indicates to a person. Masses indicate people. Here external acceleration is a force like ruling government, organisations, groups that make people stand and move for their causes, as a result these actions create a momentum. There is nothing that can happen without energy, it is a given. Everything is made of matter and energy. When two forces act against each other, the very act creates a friction. The riots can be seen as a friction between two opposite forces. Friction loses mass. As a matter of fact, the people like George Floyd, lose their lives as a result of the constant friction between the two opposite forces. That is the basic idea of my artwork. I made this artwork with a heavy heart. As the world is becoming a(n) more brutal, dark, mechanical, racial and intolerant place to live in day-by-day, it wasn't easy for me to make this one. To get a paper-print of my digital art(drawing), I used Epson ink on fine-art paper.
