Kuwait
Alivia is a part-time lawyer, part-time self- taught surrealism artist based in Kuwait city. Her work reflects on her perspective of things she had always been fascinated about, such as glass objects, diverse characters, natural creatures especially sea creatures and scientific theories. With influences as creative as Salvador Dalí and René Magritte, she inspired to learn the art of combining different elements in a way that creates a surreal sense for viewers in her own unique way. The most noticeable aspect of her work, is the use of one medium (pencil) on cold pressed paper and various shading techniques to bring each art piece to life. She believes that using many materials is non-crucial to achieve creativity, and that a pencil is a magic wand that can create the impossible with its never ending shades. Despite her concept, Alivia adds materials she individually picks that relates to the subjects of her last few drawings in each collection , making a statement towards her dedication to pencil art.
