The arch in my hometown Modena (Italy) represents the welcome, being together, walking side by side under any weather. It’s the extension of a private home on the public road, a communal space where one can feel protected, yet exposed to the unknown. The Arch I depicted on this waxed canvas is my interpretation of a spiritual portal. On this inner bridge, interconnectedness can thrive through tolerance for all the colors of the spectrum. In this safe space, different faiths and atheism, ancient cultures, and conflictual histories can elevate one another to a higher consciousness, rather than be perceived as threats to our core identities. I painted this arch in various layers and mixed media while envisioning the endless challenges and soul-enriching experiences of 18 years of interfaith-multicultural marriage. The Arch is an emotional landscape where inner and external walls can disappear, letting our complex individualities mix in a mosaic of endless possibilities.

Born in Modena, Italy Lives & works in London, UK Beatrice Dina's work explores themes of cross-cultural identity, migration, spirituality, and the fragility of human existence. Her vivid paintings merge at times lyrical abstraction with subtle representation, as the intent of her color-charged canvases is to connect with our deepest emotions and fears. Dina began her career in advertising as an art director, moving then to film production. Her diverse body of work includes documentary films, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. “I've always been attracted to the inner landscapes of human beings. When I paint, I work intuitively, not towards a narrative, like in filmmaking, but towards contemplation. I'm interested in the transcendental, the impermanence and transformation of all things; suffering and growth, human conflict, love and loss, and above all how we can arrive from the material to the immaterial.”
