ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The work was inspired by a photograph of 3 friends posing on a beach. The artist's approach was that of breaking down and abstracting the basic female forms while still retaining the recognisability of the human figure, echoing that of a prehistoric cave painting. The resulting image was then overlaid with distressed textures and including those of faint linear like shapes almost reminiscent of a circuit board or a twenty first century road map. The final image is that of the distant human past meeting the technological present.
