About The Artwork

"Plasticages" What quantity of plastic is needed to change the course of history? Plasticage is a photo + 3D sculpture series by the artist Romain DCK. Blending classic mineral with petrochemical pop culture, Plasticage invites us to question our role as Homo-numericus and our capacity to blur, alter, and transcend our reality. This art series delves into the juxtaposition of timeless minerals and the contemporary allure of petrochemical influences. Through Plasticage, the artist urges us to reflect on our relationship with numeric and its profound impact on our lives, environment, and culture. As we stand amidst this thought-provoking collection, we are prompted to ponder the consequences of our plastic dependency. Plasticage encourages us to explore our ability to make meaningful changes, to adapt and create a future that cherishes sustainability and environmental consciousness. The fusion of photography and 3D sculpture in Plasticage delivers a powerful narrative, challenging our perceptions and calling attention to our collective responsibility for a more conscious and mindful existence. Step into this visionary world, where art and reflection intertwine, and join the conversation on the transformative power of art to inspire change and shape the course of history

This is a story about freedom, of a child born on an island often called paradise by those who know it too little. It's the tale of a child who already knows that something doesn't quite fit... that he doesn't quite fit in the universe that surrounds him. A child who, like all his peers at that time, will simply be judged as "dreamy," a bit different, not very adaptable. He loves technology, computers, cameras; he will probably become an IT specialist... these liberating machines he didn't choose to love but which will offer him a world of security, trust, and love. Or how one can feel understood far more by electronics than by our own genes. It's the story of a young adult who still loves machines but instead of getting lost in them, like so many teenagers of the 2000s, he chooses to express himself through them. He, who is so bad with a pencil in his hand, much to the dismay of his artist-painter grandfather for whom life seems so simple... "When you don't search, there's nothing to discover." It's the story of an adult who discovers his peers. He owes it at least to the world of fashion, which seems so exclusive, almost as judgmental as the island where he was born. But this world offers him his first thrills, his first videos, initially "making-of" that will quickly turn into advertising campaigns. He still doesn't quite feel like he belongs, but he has certainly found his purpose, his medium: "Image and Sound." "Sight and Hearing." These two brotherly senses, without which the world would be unbearable, and which easily allow him to touch the souls of his fellow beings. No need to conform socially when the heart is within reach of communication. After spending 12 years training as a director at Canal + and TF1, Romain created his audiovisual production company. A life with a lot of traveling brings something unique... the perspective, the change of perspective that led him to decide to return to Corsica in 2018; perhaps, after all, there is only one culprit in solitude. Perhaps communication is born at the borders of fear. What is certain is that he has never felt such a strong desire to express himself, to create, through photography, video, music, and NFTs,
