Autumn 2020: The COVID Pandemic continued. Everybody wore a mask. Hospitals had special wards for "Corona", but most patients were there for other reasons - so many lives temporarily in the hands of others. Patients found hope in faith. Some believed in guardian angels, while others believed in their doctors. Their lives changed. The triptych for Autumn 2020 took until the beginning of 2023. Using Encaustic Paint and actual pictures taken by our family, I formed a collage framework for my vignettes of the hospital experience. Mostly these are imaginary scenes. How else can one convey the feeling of going to into an operation or seeing all the hands above the operating table after it is over? And how could I show the effect of medical protocols over medical decisions, over our lives. It was complicated.

Art is a passion, which I steadfastly develop in my own way, getting inspiration from fragments of poetry, photographs or stories, rather than from drawings or paintings of other artists. Dr. Dalia Hakker-Orion, curator of my solo exhibition in Tel Aviv wrote: “She doesn’t paint according to instructions or styles, but evolves at her own pace, creating original paintings manifesting passages connecting different realities.” My story stretches from my childhood home in Southern California to the Sea of Galilee in Israel. My dual citizenship has strongly influenced my perspectives. From multiple traditions, art emerges as the visual expression of movement and multi-layered ideas. I am currently working with encaustic paint that I make in my studio. My work incorporates a variety of materials: oil, acrylic, pastel, pencil sketches, and found objects.
