ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I created this digital piece initially as a proposal for a storm drain project. I ultimately turned down the commission to complete the piece due to safety issues involving the sidewalk area where the mural would have been painted. So I'm sharing this now as a digital piece. The piece follows my most recent canvas works, aimed at bringing attention to marine stewardship. On first look, one's eye is treated to bold color and adorable turtle babies swimming with a parent. At a closer look, one will notice that the turtles are swimming in a sea of trash. Like my Human Nature canvas series, this piece is designed to make you feel uncomfortable. Though pleasing to the eye, the details leave one with mixed emotions. I want to encourage conversation, awareness and ultimately action towards cleaning up our oceans, not just for the sake of the marine life, but also for our own future.

I was a resident artist at The Loft Gallery & Studios, San Pedro, CA until Covid-19 lock down. I have been working as an artist since before graduating high school, but my love of fine art painting began in 1991 at Long Road College, Cambridge, UK, under the direction of painter Andy Crocker, my inspiration. I currently work as an artist & designer creating design, concept art, animation, illustration and art commissions for clients across industries to include: Kids, Toys & Collectibles, Food, Health, Music & Entertainment. A regular at Comic-con San Diego, I'm a known painter in the collectible toy industry. Check out my day work here: My fine art is the result of personal expression otherwise neglected when producing more directed works for my industry clients.
