Juliet Silva Yee is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores abstraction, materiality, and transformation. Born in Santa Monica, California, and trained at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts—shaped by Asawa and the experimental ethos of Black Mountain—she built a high-profile career as a celebrity makeup artist in Los Angeles and New York. That mastery of surface, layering, and performance informs her paintings and collages, where post-consumer beauty packaging, handmade pigments, acrylics, and oils become dense, tactile investigations of labor, impermanence, and visual culture. Now working in the Mojave Desert, her practice is attuned to scale, time, and reinvention.
