Urban Veil explores the interplay between structure and softness — the quiet balance of geometry and atmosphere. Layers of rice paper and calico are built up through washes of acrylic and ink, forming an abstract architectural landscape of muted greys, ochres, and turquoise. The translucent veils se...

Artist Statement by Kerryn Levy My work explores the dialogue between structure and spontaneity — the way pattern, texture, and rhythm can reveal hidden emotional undercurrents. Working across mixed media, collage, and paint on calico, I build each piece in layers, allowing colour and form to emerge through a process of construction and erosion. Recent works such as "Chain Gang" and "Blue Circuit" continue my interest in mapping the unseen — memory, energy, connection — through looping forms that suggest both entanglement and release. These interlinked shapes float over grids and stitched surfaces, referencing the architectures we move within and the invisible systems that hold us together. I think of painting as a kind of excavation: uncovering what lies beneath the surface of perception. The marks, joins, and translucent overlays become a visual language of rhythm and resonance — a quiet record of time and touch. My current series moves between warmth and coolness, chaos and order, material and digital. It reflects an ongoing fascination with transformation — how beauty can emerge from repetition, and how abstraction can speak to the emotional, tactile world we inhabit.
