While being supported by the water we can chose to swim or let ourselves go, to drift on the current; fixed structures are left behind, the provisional, the light/lightweight and casual gain new significance; when material changes to energy. These thoughts are central to my work. They are reflected in my approach towards it as much as in its content and technical realisation. No matter if we think of energy in terms of temperature, time or substance, it can only exist in motion. Energy flows, spreads, streams, floats, trickles...but once it stops moving it stops existing. It is the challenge of recording notions of this process in a “still” image that I am interested in. As for the paintings the approach is quite subtle. Paint is applied in multiple layers. Similar to a palimpsest marks are added by overwriting existing layers - lower layers are not wiped out entirely but remain partially present. Coverings, corrections and even erasures stay just as visible as additions.

It seems as if memories resonate in these abstract, expressionist painting; as if we would recognize landscapes, flowers , people who dance through lively streets , silent sunlit places , swirling micro-particles escaping rigid patterns. The main issue these paintings have in common is a strong sense of movement . Power and energy seems to float through these images. They convey feelings of liveliness even in those paintings that prefer a more calm and quiet atmosphere. Layer upon layer is placed on the canvas to slowly release an impression that can be described as the painterly equivalent of a "frozen moment in time". The liquid paint almost reminds us on blurred motion stills in photography and is set against the contrast of clear colourfields. Each new layer reveals new perspectives, to be partly covered and allow further points of view.. During this process each image develops its own concept.
