ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Dina says: Our drawing session was scheduled the day after the trip to Haifa to the film screening of Kirill Serebrennikov's film "Captain Volkonogov Fled", a very talented and very bitter film-parable about the terrible period of the Great Terror in Russia, about the impossibility of repentance of ghouls and the impossibility of their forgiveness , about all-consuming fear, inexhaustible and transmitted from generation to generation, about secrets and revelations ... this film shocked me incredibly, in the history of my family there is a dense concentration of all of the above, there were executioners, victims, and unfortunate descendants bearing on myself and in myself this unbearable burden. And I am one of them. Where is this cargo? It was with such thoughts and mood that I came to Natasha, whom I knew very little and superficially at that time. I don’t remember how this conversation began on a sunny spring morning, and why I suddenly began to tell an unfamiliar person about my feelings and thoughts, about the vicissitudes of my family’s life, about how oppressive I am that I know about how and how people lived that I hadn't even seen... Natasha listened, was silent and drew. At first she shook her head, and it was clear that she did not like something: either my stories, or myself, or the resulting portrait ... then my monologue turned into a dialogue, and Natasha's face gradually began to brighten, a smile appeared, even sparks in the eyes. Then they were replaced by doubt. And so several times I was very scared to see the result ... it seemed to me that some kind of monster would look at me ... This was the first time for me: the joy of recognizing myself exactly as I feel. And admiring surprise that Natasha was able to feel and convey the real me not just with an external resemblance, but also with something elusive, deep. When I saw the finished work - quite unexpectedly, just a stream of tears from gratitude for talent, soulfulness and depth❤️
