This work's location is currently unknown, and thus not for sale. I do though have the 30x40 originating "3 Cups" acrylic painting, and once I have a suitable image file, that work will be available for sale, the 1st time since 1984. What/who inspired the work? - Monet was my most dominant influence at the time, and living in Galveston with my wife and 3 children, I applied an abstracted fusion of floral and seaside vegetation. I remember distinctly feeling that "cups" was both a good compromise and synthesis of both on land and underwater vegetation. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? I honestly didn't think of that much then, but wanted to share my love of living near the water, feeling fresh breezes, and feeling a healthy happiness. I felt this motif, which I began in 1984 with my 1st "3 Cups" variation, a 30x40" acrylic, carried that feeling in style and color and mood. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? I chose acrylic simply because it was easier to use and clean up than oils, even vs the water based oils I'd eventually switch to for a decade around 2001 once the children were grown. The impressionist style felt happy, as I mostly prefer to feel, and very much felt. The added abstractionist element felt a perfect complement of freedom to also have, allowing me to feel I could explore my own stylistic variations as they arose.

082124 update - My earliest memories of making art were my early school years, 1st - 3rd grade, watching colors from crayons and watercolors dance with reflections from the light across rough bumpy paper π I'm still working with that fascination, alternating between smooth and rough, lines and blocks of color. It's best to say, at nearly 74 years of age, I'm finally beginning to accept I don't like doing only fields of color, or line-work, or abstract or representational. So here at Saatchi Art, I present my smorgasbord of work in differing mediums or styles - but I do think what has always persisted is - my sense of awe with life - internal, external, and mingled. Please feel free to contact me with and questions ππβ€οΈ
