As I was feeling anxious and disheartened by the world, I knew I needed to slow down reflect and turn the noise off. By using an unfinished piece from well over a year prior, that barely had anything on it (just a little orange & yellow), I was able to paint through how I was feeling. In the mids...

I am a self-taught abstract artist, currently living in Tyler, TX. A preachers daughter raised In Plainview Texas, I began painting in 2007. In a small enclosed entryway in our 1910s home, which I used as my first studio, I learned painting was much more to me than I ever realized as a child and young adult. With life as a military family, all the moves and uncertainty that comes with that, my focus didn’t take off again until 2017, when personal events changed my perspective and I began to focus my art to help me begin healing my mental and physical health. Art is a form of expression of emotions I struggle to verbalize, but can show them with my works. I am an introvert. But I love people and a crowd. I find painting is therapy for me. It allows me to freely express my emotions. I can't always verbalize what I'm thinking. But through painting, I can. The best way I have found to describe my craft is a quote by D.W. Winnicott: “Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide.”
