ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The different shades of rose gold, pink, black, silver, and gray are a combination of colors I had always envisioned would be the colors for a nursery, had we had been blessed enough to have a little girl. This color palette is one of my favorites. The pretty and soft of the pinks with the strength of the dark colors, accented by the shine of the ‘silver/rose’ gold leaf sheets and the texture all contribute to the paintings overall boldness and strength. All the attributes I would hope my daughter to have. . Every piece of art I create is from my own personal journey of mental health through art as therapy, this one is no different. It was the first one I finished at the first of COVID end of April of ‘20 This fantastically textured piece is a combination of metallic acrylic paint, rose & silver gold leaf sheets, iridescent medium, & modeling paste This is painted on all sides and is ready for immediate hanging

I am a self-taught abstract artist, currently living in Tyler, TX. A preachers daughter raised In Plainview Texas, I began painting in 2007. In a small enclosed entryway in our 1910s home, which I used as my first studio, I learned painting was much more to me than I ever realized as a child and young adult. With life as a military family, all the moves and uncertainty that comes with that, my focus didn’t take off again until 2017, when personal events changed my perspective and I began to focus my art to help me begin healing my mental and physical health. Art is a form of expression of emotions I struggle to verbalize, but can show them with my works. I am an introvert. But I love people and a crowd. I find painting is therapy for me. It allows me to freely express my emotions. I can't always verbalize what I'm thinking. But through painting, I can. The best way I have found to describe my craft is a quote by D.W. Winnicott: “Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide.”
