ABOUT THE ARTWORK

889 Broadway Manhattan NYC Medium: Watercolor on paper, Ink Size: 9x12 in Flatiron District is all about commerce and business. There are many buildings there and most of them are offices or stores. The neighborhood was known as the Ladies’ Mile, due to all of the department stores that lined its avenues. That makes the buildings on Broadway all the more unique. 889 Broadway was built in 1884 and when it first opened, its primary tenant was the Gorham manufacturing company, who specialized in silver. The facade of the building is very attractive with an asymmetric brick facade, stone decorative trim and complex ornamentations.

I love playing with light and shadows, especially how they mix in the city. Using my own style, I make lively urban scenes that show how I see the city's energy. Each piece is like a vibrant experiment, balancing the busy city life with a bit of chaos. My art breaks down memories into a strong and flowing structure. “
