Expressionist paintings, pastels, and watercolors by the Italian artist Katia Demyanova I'm Katia. Katia Demyanova. And I do painting, already more than 30 years. In the field of artistic expressiveness there are themes that have always occupied a relevant place — for me it's borders. The border between sleep and reality, between light and shadow, between the figurative and the abstract. And this is more important. In my paintings you see the trees, the houses, the sea and the sky, even people sometimes. But it is useless to try to calculate the tiles on the roofs or the olives in the garden — the detail does not already exist. I have a series of paintings — “The objects that disappear”, the objects are still there, still present, even recognizable, but for how long. Who knows — this for me is a boundary between the concrete and the abstract. The location the most vulnerable and the most interesting. Therefore painting for me is like a bridge, a bridge, where you walk with your impressions that you have to transform who knows how. And perhaps this is also the metaphor of life itself, but this is too sad. And whether to talk about concrete things: I was born in Moscow, where I also took my first painting lessons. Then came Paris — Ecole des Beaux Arts. Then I was forced to leave Russia, and with my husband we have chosen Italy and have moved to Lanciano, a miraculous city in Abruzzo. Now I live and work in Lanciano.
