There was a time when interested in the problem of Corrida. I had coded the stereotype that the bull is aggressive animal. Nothing could be further from the truth. Bulls are wonderful animals that emanates strength and serenity. They become aggressive because they are provoked to aggression and agitation. In this portrait, I managed to give both their strength and majestic serenity. I used a limited range of warm colors in the background and contrasted they with dark patch of bull's heads. For the compositional balance I added a shadow diagonally in the bottom of the picture. At that time in my life I needed strength and serenity, and I created they image.

I started drawing before I even learnt to speak. I was drawing on all walls in my house and every single clean piece of paper that got into my hands. When I was a child my dream was to have an endless amount of paper to be able to express my childhood dreams and visions of the world by way of my drawings. When I decided to go to Arts Secondary School, and then to University, I didn't think of becoming an artist, I was only glad that I chose a school where the thing I love doing - creating art- will be my main duty. In visual arts the most important thing for me is the visual message, an idea, a thought which everyone has a chance to read regardless of the language they speak or the cultural background they come from. It is a message on universal values, relations between people and their emotional state, an attempt to present all the things that seem to us plain, normal and usual in an unusual way. I highly value oil paintings because it gives me a huge variety of technical means for creating a picture in which I can express everything I want. From soft touches of brush and gentle, subtle diffusion of colours to sharp, dynamic hits of palette knife and sharp, intense contrasts. I look for inspiration either within myself, my imagination and emotions or outside as well. The theme of my art can be everything, landscape outside a window of speeding car, people's talk sitting at the next table in a pub, theatre piece, music, particular kind of light. I often grab my brushes in order to express my attitude to something or someone. It is to allow me to speak through my paintings if words can't be found." http://yoannafuterra.com yoanna.futerra@gmail.com
