A Gender War Odyssey Print

As a Queer-gendered person, I often saw the masculine and feminine energies as battling one another. However, it was not until recently that I have embraced both energies within me. A Filipino identity known as “bakla,” similar to the Native American Two Spirit tradition and which often times is mistranslated/simplified to “gay man.” Sometimes, the feminine overtakes and other times, the masculine. When the dust settles, there’s a harmonious, symbiosis of both energies joined together, expressed in lavender/lilac hues. Dedicated to the gender non-conforming, queer-gendered, Trans communities especially of Color. Painted after marching in the Queer Liberation March in NYC June 2019.
