This is a 12x16 acrylic painting on a stretched canvas of a Native American family set in a teepee in the snow-covered forest. The teepee is surrounded by snow covered trees with a river running through the woods. My inspiration for this painting was the Nativity at Christmas and a native family as the holy family.

I am Julie Frechette, and I got started in painting later in life. I have not had any formal training, except the online art tutorials of how to draw. My art began just before the Covid Pandemic, but it did provide a way to keep myself busy in the evenings when places were closed down. One of my sister's gave me a Bob Ross painting kit stocking stuffers for Christmas at the end of 2019. When I was back at my apartment, I started painting on the mini canvas provided with the kit. And, I got hooked. I wanted to keep on painting. Over the years the painting canvas sizes grew and perhaps the subjects got more personal. Presently, I live with my mother as her caregiver. I suppose painting has offered a release from this often overwhelming and stressful experience. The caregiving has become a full-time task, which makes it difficult to hold down a steady job. And, due to my growing collection of artwork, I have decided to sell my paintings in hope of providing some income. I am very thankful for your stopping to look at my work and reading my bio.
