About The Artwork

In Xu Bin's original oil painting titled "A Virtual World I," the viewer is transported to a world that is entirely different from our own, yet strikingly familiar. The painting raises the question of whether we are living in a virtual world, with the advancement of modern science and technology allowing us to create complete virtual environments that are often indistinguishable from reality. In the distance of the painting, several beams of light shine towards the high sky, symbolizing the human exploration of the mysteries of the universe. The painter seems to be inviting the viewer to join in this exploration, to experience the wonders of the virtual world, and to ponder the possibility that we might be living in a virtual world ourselves. On the left side of the painting, many frame-like objects appear in the distance, representing the narrow gate of Christianity. The painter seems to be suggesting that the people in this virtual world are not afraid of hardships, and they are willing to go through these doors to attain light and civilization, leading to eternal life. The painting is a masterful combination of imagination and realism, with the artist skillfully contrasting the virtual world with the real world. The painting is a reflection of the painter's mastery of color control, with the vivid colors creating a sense of energy and excitement. The painting is a riot of colors, with the red skin and green clothes of the characters in sharp contrast against the blue background, purple narrow door, green, and yellow lights. The colors are high-purity and placed together perfectly, creating a peaceful and relaxing ambiance. The viewer is left with a sense of wonder and amazement, as they contemplate the possibilities of the virtual world and the mysteries of the universe. "A Virtual World I" is a powerful and thought-provoking work of art that will leave a lasting impression on all who view it.

I was born in 1969 in Guang'an, Sichuan, China. I graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Southwest Normal University and became a freelance artist afterwards. My early works were mainly oil paintings, influenced by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists such as Monet and Seurat. Through continuous learning and creative practice, I gradually integrated the artistic essence of Matisse, Picasso, Dali, Chagall and other artists, and combined with my own Chinese cultural background to develop my own mature artistic style.
