Argentine artist, Ale Feijó, 54 years, has made a bold move by immersing herself in her passion for painting after nearly four decades working as a graphic designer. Alejandra describes her work in this way, "When I paint women, they and I are one and the same person in that moment, without past or future, just the now". With fevered, brush strokes, Feijó skillfully brings her viewers into the world of women she has created using textures layered in rich, bold stains and washes meshed with sketches and writings. The artist says about her own work: Why do I paint women? What do they say with their presence in my work? Why are they naked? The corporeality of my women is strong. They are not ethereal bodies, they are forceful, rooted in their weight towards the earth. They have presence, they do not diminish themselves, they do not belittle themselves. They give their place. They are women who have lived, who have loved and suffered intensely and are exposed to their lives. Women who decided to leave behind the first woman they were. The woman "perfection", the woman "obligation", the woman "must be", the woman "martyrdom", the woman "guilt". They were women who dressed, who covered their bodies to face things with protective shields that mimic their existence in such a way that they fulfilled what was expected and then were not seen too much. But not anymore. They undressed of all those ancestral, familiar, cultural mandates to find themselves before their lives feeling free. Her nakedness is a sign of freedom, of courage, of deep desires, of the vital pulse that awoke in them like a volcano. And that springs in each stroke, in each graphic ... devastating. Women tattooed, written, erased and redefined in the territory of their deepest being, in the silence of my early mornings painting, thinking, writing ... living. Women who are only in gerund, because their "being" she draws them. They abandoned the search for beauty, so that the beauty of their being emerges and is perceived in the skin. And it is with that skin, sign of your soul, with which you connect with the other. Women who have transmuted into beauty, because there is nothing more beautiful than truth and it is their ontological truth that is tattooed on their bodies. Women beautiful, sensual, erotic, imperfect, strong, vulnerable ... Female bodies ... Women and their bodies ... Women My women are one woman ...
