ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The area surrounding Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico has been made famous by artist Georgia O'Keeffe who lived and worked out of her nearby studio. For me, it is one of the most beautiful spots on earth and my wife and I regularly camp along the Rio Chama off the road leading to the Christ in the Desert Monastery. While leaving our campsite one late afternoon, we encountered the image that inspired this scene, the moon rising over one of the spectacular multi-colored mesas. I would love this painting to inspire others to come visit this unique part of the American landscape where beauty and sacred energy are in abundance.
