ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is of my babcia (grandmother) who survived capture and enslavement as a child in the second world war. I tried to create a juxtaposition of the expression of having endured hardship and the playful colours. This piece is built up from several layers including different canvases, oil pastels, acrylic paint and oil paint.
