Absence Print

The work is inspired by the stay at home orders. I used to spend a time hiking and enjoying what nature had to offer outdoors. During the stay at home orders, I was never so mindful of how I missed the outdoors, and how much I longed to just stand under a tree and enjoy the luxury of nature around me. The silhouette is representative of my own absence in the picture, and the longing of a past that will never return. I hope the viewers can relate with the feeling and enjoy the intense color that brings joy when perceived in nature. I work with acrylic as it has the qualities of that I can use in my ideas. The individual colors are "swimming" and very liquidey when seen up close. I took some of the photos I have from hiking saturated them to get an appropriate color balance. It gives the work a psychedelic effect. At certain times of the year, and in certain light, all the colors of nature can glow and explode, and the feeling is as if in a dream.
