ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Usually when a painting is nearly-finished-but-not-quite, usually just past the time when I think, "OK, I see where this is going." a title will pop in my head. But not with this one. Things came to mind, but they didn't feel right. I felt like this painting had something to say, but I couldn't find it. I asked for help for the title, and Laurie Jean Crowe said "Absolution," and something dinged in me but I didn't really exactly how it tied into the tree. But I like the word, and thinking of trees as priests works for me absolutely fine.... so... But today I realized the grove of trees behind are the congregation. Passing this tree of "absolution" means you are moving into the realm of the forgiven. That means that past this tree, you don't look back. No more shame, no more regret, because this tree of forgiveness is blocking your view, see, if you pass it and continue to the grove. It is protecting you from the advance of accusation and you are moving into absolution now. So! Anyway, that's what this tree painting is about. I hope that encourages someone the way it encouraged me.

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My process is intuitive, responding to a conversation I am having with the canvas, with a vocabulary of color, shape and gesture to communicate something beyond what can be expressed with words. I hope that my paintings will give pleasure, joy and a little thoughtfulness as well. I have art in public and private collections all over the US, and around the world.
