Roxanne Fawcett was shaped by a childhood split between the hills of Mendocino County, California and the forests of Coos County, Oregon. A visceral connection to the outdoors and boldly natural influences can be seen in all of her work and art. Over 30 years, Roxanne has worked as an artist and designer. Her specific vision has been applied to landscape and architectural design throughout California, Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. She has worked as an illustrator, graphic designer and art director. She is skilled with ceramics textiles, stained glass, mixed media and jewelry. But the constant and continuing passion for Roxanne is painting. She employs a quasi-representational style, using acrylic paint on canvas or paper. Her engaging textures and designs are achieved with a variety of media applied with brushes, pallet knives, fingers, squirt bottles, rollers, scrapers, bubble wrap – whatever adds interest and dimension. Roxanne is known for her irreverently discerning series work. She takes inspiration from the natural world and invites others to join her in the exaggerated delights and dramas to be found in a poppy, a jackrabbit, a horse or a bold abstract. The interplay between the realistic and the represented and the way Ms. Fawcett’s series evolve give the viewer new perspectives on landscapes, color and life.
